Chaitanya Natu is an accomplished percussionist from India with a deep-rooted background in Indian classical music. Born into a musical family, he began playing the tabla at the tender age of six. His formal education in music is extensive; he earned a Master of Music in contemporary performance and production from Berklee College of Music in 2021, where his research focused on innovative combinations of patterns and sounds from various rhythmic traditions, such as African polyrhythms, flamenco, and Middle Eastern rhythms, all anchored in the Indian tala system.

Chaitanya also holds an Advanced Diploma in Music from Bhartiya Vidyapeeth and a Master of Music in tabla from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, which he completed in 2018. In addition to his musical credentials, he has academic qualifications in other fields, including a Master’s in Computer Applications from Pune University (2019) and a Master’s in Digital Marketing from IEM Business School in Valencia (2023).

His performance career is equally impressive, having played at numerous festivals across India and participating in a Guinness World Record event organized by the Art of Living in 2012. Chaitanya has also been active in devotional and folklore music scenes in India and has collaborated with various ensembles in Spain, exploring genres like Indo-flamenco jazz, traditional folk, Sufi-electronic, Middle Eastern, and Indian classical music.

Chaitanya’s innovative approach includes projects like batucada, where he integrates the “tasha,” a folk instrument from Maharashtra, India. He has worked with renowned artists such as Brazilian legend Gilberto Gil, Indian Sufi-electronic artist Kanishk Seth, and Spanish folk-pop musician Mateo Falgas etc. He regularly performs Indian classical music with Dr. Rajnandini in Barcelona.

Currently residing in Valencia, Chaitanya balances his career as a web developer with his passion for music. He collaborates with bands like Taali-khali and Umpah, teaches Indian rhythm in various countries, and continues to work on his own musical projects.
